Aim of the Project :
The main aim of St. Ann’s Home project is to rehabilitate destitute and other women, of all caste and communities and thus help them to live a life of dignity as images of God.

History of St. Ann’s Home:
Mount Rosary Charitable Institutions was founded by Very Rev. Msgr. Francis Elias Dsouza, in the year 1937. It was mainly a Tuberculosis sanatorium, where TB patients were treated with herbal medicines, supported by a prayer life based on the devotion of the Holy Rosary. Together with the TB sanatorium Msgr. Francis Elias DSouza, started a home for destitute women. These women were fallen in the streets and picked up by Social workers and Police and brought to Mount Rosary. These women were housed in two rooms. When the Sixth director of Mount Rosary charitable Institutions took charge in the year 1989, he built 12 rooms for them. Presently there are 40 destitute women living in St. Ann’s Home.

The Need of a Renovated home for St. Ann’s home for the destitute:
The original building with two rooms was built 84 years ago. New additions of 12 rooms built 34 years ago with mud walls. Now this building is in dilapidated condition. Therefore, we found that a new well planned home for 40 or more destitute women needs to be built with proper hygienic facilities, rooms for prayer, recreation, and dining. Therefore the enclosed project.

Architects plan and cost estimates.
I am enclosing separately the architects plan of St. Ann’s home for destitute women. The plan has ground and first floor. There are 13 rooms on the ground floor with proper toilet facilities and 14 rooms on the first floor with toilet facilities . There is a multipurpose hall for prayer, dining, recreation and meetings. There is a room for the warden sisters to stay with the destitute women.

The total construction cost of the project is Rs. 2,19,57,000/-. (Rupees Two Crore Nineteen Lakh Fifty Seven Thousand only). In addition we need to purchase furniture and electrical fittings.

Appeal :
May I request the Friends of Mount Rosary Charitable Institutions to sponsor the project by donating a room at Rs 6,50,000. Your name will be inscribed in the rooms of the inmates. Smaller donations are also welcome. The names of donors above Rs 10,000 will be exhibited on a marble slab at the entrance of the St. Ann’s home.
